Having worked with the Scouts for over 5 years, we were invited to collaborate on their most ambitious project to date; The Great Indoors. A free online database of over a thousand activities for volunteers, parents/carers and young people.
Similar to editorial content, the purpose of our work was to represent the activity’s theme at a glance.
We were tasked with branding and initial roll-out of the resource before delivering over 700 digital assets and guides for Scouts’ in-house creative team to implement in the future.
We began by creating a cast of weird and wonderful characters to reflect the diversity of the organisation's members. The gang were used to demonstrate the activities’ themes and objectives in a fun and easily understandable manner.
Our aim was to keep everything as bold and graphic as possible. This gave the style flexibility to be super expressive (with full blown out character scenes and lavish backdrops) but distinctive enough so that we could pull everything back and showcase the characters in their most minimalist form and still be recognisable (for more instructional content).
